Another incredible day in Liberia. How do I feel after our second day with the kids? A lot of overflowing joy filled with hope, happiness, uneasiness, and anticipation of what lies ahead for the rest of this week. These kids are absolutely incredible! As important as it is to come here and accomplish some tangible projects my true joy and heart is in the time I spend holding these kids and touching these kids and playing with these kids. We have an incredible team assembled and I am blessed and honored to be serving alongside every single one of them. We have a President who is hard-working, determined, and passionate about CHAP, these kids, and improving our orphanage. We want every single child to have a quality of life that they so greatly deserve to have. That is our goal this week to improve that and to continue to work hard at making it better each and every day whether it be here in Liberia or 7,000 miles away in the states.

We are back in Liberia!!!!!!! Oh, it seems SO surreal to be back here again. After about 27 hours of travel, we arrived here yesterday around 5pm. We showered, unpacked, and then hung around for a bit before going to bed. Today we were up at 6:30am (more like 7:10 for me since I woke up late) to eat breakfast and have devotionals. We left by 8:30 for the orphanage which is a good 45 minute drive from our compound. Once arriving there it didn't take but 5 steps before the children were gathered around all of us, smiling, touching our skin (which is so different from theirs), and saying hello. This is the most exciting moment of the year for CHAP International as we prepare for our next trip to Liberia, West Africa!! In 18 days our team of 9 incredible, passionate, and kingdom shaking individuals will board a plane at Newark Airport for a trip of a lifetime. I can say from personal experience that it will rock us to the core. We cannot wait to be reunited with our kids at the Liberian Christian Orphanage and continue to build relationships that will last a lifetime! We wanted to take a little time to introduce you to our 2013 Missions Trip Team, so here we go! In 2004 CHAP International took its very first missions team from the states to Liberia, Africa. It was a monumental trip for CHAP as we also filled out the necessary paperwork to become an NGO in Liberia and even secured office space in Monrovia. A lot has changed since 2004 and 2013 is setting up to be an incredible trip for this years missions team. In June we will make our first trip to Liberia without Founder Stan Weaver. With an experienced and seasoned leadership team there is no doubt in my mind that we will continue on the path that Stan paved for us. We cannot say thank you enough to Stan Weaver for his heart, dedication, passion, and fearlessness to chase after all that God has called him to do through CHAP and in his own life! Our team w/the kids in Feb 2012! Thank you so much for your continued generosity and investment into God’s Kingdom through last year, and moving forward into this year! We are so thankful and blessed with our supporters and how consistent they are. We would not be where we are today without this solid base of people committed to Liberia and our work there. God is doing some amazing things through our ministry, stateside and in Liberia!! We are honored and blessed to be along for the ride and thank you for your heart to join us as we help to restore the country of Liberia and show them the love of Jesus!! Come be a part of the CHAP Community and get invovled!! We have been blessed by the outpouring of love and support for our child sponsorship program over the last few years. We have developed a core group of giving individuals who are committed to bettering the lives of our kids in Liberia, Africa. We know that we CANNOT do this alone and we are humbled by your generosity and willingness to help! We THANK YOU! There are incredible blessings to the child sponsorship program for people like yourself who have been involved. The biggest would be the one on one connection of sponsoring a child. Being able to put a face to the name and know that you are helping this child. The simple reality is that we just do not have enough sponsors for all 65 kids. With our Feed A Child program we want to ban together to support all 65 and the entire orphanage as a whole. You will not just be sponsoring ONE child, but 65!! The Liberian Christian Orphanage is a beautiful place with some pretty amazing kids!! We want the kids to know that it is ALL about them, not a certain child or the children that are "sponsored", but all 65 of their beautiful smiling faces! We want to ban together locally and fight to give these kids more than enough food to help them grow and mature. To kick off our Feed A Child Program we are going to be hosting an open event launch party on February 4th!! This event will be held at The Community Room in Lancaster City, right above Prince Street Cafe. It is located on 19 N. Prince St Lancaster, PA. Our party will run from 7PM-8:30 PM and is a great opportunity to meet our staff, learn more about the kids and LCMO, and find out more about what you can do to help! Come enjoy some free coffee, food, music and a great evening of fellowship as we look to build on our CHAP community!! At the party you will be able to get involved on a monthly basis with our Feed A Child Program for as little as $15 a month, or just find out more information. If you have supported CHAP in the past, currently do, or are interested in giving in the future, EVERYONE is welcome!! For those of you who have already been involved through our child sponsorship program we would love for you to come to our party! NO RSVP is needed, but you can RSVP on our event page via Facebook if you would like. Tell your friends, your mom, grandma, dad, uncle, nephew, tell everyone!! Feel free to invite friends to the party!! We are so excited and cannot wait to see you there! |
