Another incredible day in Liberia. How do I feel after our second day with the kids? A lot of overflowing joy filled with hope, happiness, uneasiness, and anticipation of what lies ahead for the rest of this week. These kids are absolutely incredible!
As important as it is to come here and accomplish some tangible projects my true joy and heart is in the time I spend holding these kids and touching these kids and playing with these kids. We have an incredible team assembled and I am blessed and honored to be serving alongside every single one of them. We have a President who is hard-working, determined, and passionate about CHAP, these kids, and improving our orphanage. We want every single child to have a quality of life that they so greatly deserve to have. That is our goal this week to improve that and to continue to work hard at making it better each and every day whether it be here in Liberia or 7,000 miles away in the states.
Loving on these kids is also at the top of that list and something our team does not shy away from. Watching Ashley, Ashley, Tim and Marlin jump right in as if they have known these kids for years is such an example of what it means to be a servant. What it means to love, what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It is a special sight to see.
The kids LOVED the face painting we did today, we spent close to 2 hours painting their faces, having our faces painted and watching them paint each others faces :) I ended up with JESUS painted across my forehead, which wasn't a bad thing! Lead guitarist Ashley Woods also busted out her guitar and sang with the kids, teaching them songs and getting them to clap along with us.
We have a lot of projects that we are attempting to complete in the next few days. From fixing a leaky roof, to building bunk beds. We are trusting in God that those provisions are already laid out for us!
Continue to pray for our team as we live out the rest of the week in Liberia! We are so happy to be here and cannot wait to see our kids in the morning!!
